Does Phimostop work? The clinical research
Phimostop is a medical device validated by the Italian Ministry of Health and the subject of clinical research at the Tor Vergata University polyclinic in Rome. The clinical research was coordinated by Professor Miano and the results were published in the international scientific journal ‘Translational Urology and Andrology’.
The results showed that more than 80% of patients – who reached the primary endpoint – confirmed resolution of their phimosis 24 months after using Phimostop, thus avoiding circumcision.

PHIMOSTOP
Treating Phimosis without Circumcision
Phimostop is a medical device consisting of 22 medical silicone elements designed to help resolve phimosis, a condition in which the foreskin cannot be fully retracted onto the glans of the penis.
Phimostop: the clinical research
For the first study on the effectiveness of the Phimostop medical device, 85 patients with slight to moderate phimosis and an indication for circumcision were selected.
The aim of the study was to avoid circumcision for one third of the patients selected for the study. This aim was largely achieved and exceeded as more than half of them managed to avoid circumcision after treatment with the Phimostop device. 81% of the patients who reached the primary endpoint confirmed the resolution of their phimosis 24 months after using Phimostop, thus avoiding circumcision.
The research was carried out with the old Phimostop model, which has recently been improved in terms of ergonomics and components (from 13 tubes to 22). Today, in fact, Phimostop is composed of 22 hypoallergenic and soft medical silicone elements, designed and manufactured to apply the proven technique of skin dilation to the phimotic ring when subjected to progressive and constant pressure.
Does Phimostop cure all types of phimosis?
Alongside the traditional treatment by circumcision surgery, Phimostop is now available to offer an alternative to those who want to treat phimosis without surgery. It is a natural method that uses the principle of tissue dilation to allow phimosis to be cured without surgery thanks to 22 medical silicone elements, designed and manufactured to apply the proven technique of skin dilation to the phimotic ring when subjected to progressive and constant pressure.
Phimostop is a medical device that can treat all types of phimosis. In our research, patients with mild to moderate phimosis were included. As the device does not cause any side effects other than possible discomfort at the site of application, its use can also be extended to severe phimosis to resolve it without the need for surgery.
Specifically:
- Tight or congenital phimosis will take longer to heal; nontight or acquired phimosis may heal faster.
- In the case of phimosis caused by diabetes, the device will help increase the opening of the foreskin but, given the persistence of the cause (diabetes), phimosis may recur over time. In this case, appropriate tuboids should be reinserted until a new adequate foreskin opening is achieved.
- In cases of Lichen sclerosus, the efficacy of Phimostop is reduced because the foreskin has less elasticity and responds less to stimulus.
It is important to emphasize that any failure of the Phimostop treatment in no way prejudices a subsequent circumcision operation.
Phimostop is the only medical device for the treatment of phimosis without circumcision validated by the Ministry of Health.
